Diana and I decided early on that we wanted to buy an historic property in Calabria. Because it would be our full-time home, we wanted to become immersed in real Italian life and we appreciate just being around buildings that are older than in the US, where we are from. We completely remod See more details

Renovations

Before Renovation

Calabria has a rich history and many of the old towns that populate the area are part of that history. The romance of owning an historic property is a dream for a lot of people, Scalea Property Services have helped many to fulfil that dream. During the past few years investors have realised their ambitions and within 12 months from purchase have achieved what many thought impossible. They now own an historic restored property in Italy. Budgets vary but purchasing a property can cost as low as €10,000, with the purchase process often completed within 12 weeks. Restorations can take up to 12 months to complete, but in many cases sooner. Of course you can rebuild your historic property in stages if you wish and stretch the project over a few years. You can control what suits you and your budget best.

During the purchase you will have the opportunity to discuss the project, deciding the number of bedrooms, where to put the bathroom and kitchen and the possibility of balconies and a roof terrace. Visiting show rooms to select materials such as doors, windows, tiles, bathrooms and, of course, seeing finished projects is all part of the service we offer. Prior to the purchase we will also obtain quotes based on the design style and finish you require.

Renovation AfterOnce the purchase process is complete and renovation quote selected, you will meet the builder and sign a renovation contract, including a copy of the builders quote. A question and answer session and meeting with the builders on site will be arranged.

Payments are made in stages and governed by the project's progress, so again keeping you in full control of both the project and your funds. Scalea Property Services will keep you updated with a summary report, accompanied with photographs, during the build progress.

Over the past 6 years we have sold many restoration properties. Here you will find a selection of projects we have managed for our clients. You can read what they have to say about their experience of buying and restoring an historic property in Calabria.
